As you're navigating through the Open or Save As dialog boxes in Word, Excel or PowerPoint, don't overlook the row of icons along the left side of the box.

They allow you to jump directly to common storage locations, such as your desktop or My Documents folders (and they're a lot easier on the eyes than the dropdown list of files and folders under "Look in").
